Bhaveen Sheth-DOTSIM-Bad Habits the Single Indian Male must avoid

DOTSIM stands for the diary of the Single Indian Male.

My Dear Single Indian Male Friends,

We are  now into March 2013, two months have already gone by. Looks like this year is going to go by very quickly.

Today's topic of discussion is on the bad habits that we the single men must avoid. We the single Indian male's can pick up bad habits. You can be single ,unmarried, a widower or a divorcee. Loneliness can be the greatest of all devils to take a toll on the a single person's life. Below mentioned are the vices that we the must avoid:

Internet Addiction: A bad habit where one spends mindless hours just browsing various Internet and social networking sites. There is no learning from this and  leads to  waste of time. My critics may agree that it helps you in catching up with your long lost and overseas based relatives, friends and colleagues. However the problems starts when you get addicted to it. All you do is browse the net mindlessly for hours together which will certainly take a toll on your life and on your mind.

Alcohol Addiction: This is a commonly available vice. A lot of lonely single men fall for it. You may be alone, you may be brooding over a relationship breakup or a bad divorce and end up turning to alcohol as your last resort to eternal redemption. Please avoid this habit, other than spoiling your health and wasting your money, this habit will have detrimental effects on your career and professional life.

Drugs/Substance Abuse: Though not common, but the single lonely men do fall for it especially those who are living in the metros. There is no shortage of drug peddlers who act as middle men between the drug lords and the common user. Remember my friends, alcohol addiction can be reversible but not drug addiction, the after effects of substance is really bad. And not to mention that in India we have a draconian law known as Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances act. It does not differentiate between the seller or the user, if you are caught by narcotic enforcement people, even if you are innocent, you will end up in prison, so please beware.

Pornography: Though it is not against the law to watch porn and every man worth his salt including my self has watched porn at some point of his life, but addiction to porn can be dangerous. The Delhi gang rape incident clearly showed that all the offenders were porn addicts. This addiction degrades the value of a woman in your mind, one starts thinking that all woman are sex objects which is not the case. other than that , addiction makes you watch it anywhere, anytime and anyplace without even thinking how bad it can be if you were caught watching porn (remember the Karnataka state legislative assembly case where ministers were caught watching porn). If you ever get married in the near future you will end up experimenting all those things you watched on X rated movies on your wife. This will spoil your relation ship with her, after all she is your wife not some sex object.

Video Games: It is healthy to play video games because it keeps your brain active and keeps your  mind engaged, however an excess of it will again become a problem. Other that the strain it brings on your eyes, it wastes important time, something that you could use doing better things. Plus this addiction makes you skip your work and you also tend to become less social. So my take here is , it is good to play but please don't get addicted.

Television:Commonly found bad habit in single people, with nothing to do you turn up to the idiotic box to seek solace and all you do is mindlessly flip channels from one to another, not knowing what to watch. Though not harmful but is is certainly an activity that will not contribute to your intellectual output.

Road Rage: Of course this is for all the rich guys who have road toys ( Sports cars and motorbikes) and also for the normal guys who think that their normal vehicle is a sports vehicle during night times. Speed is good, but only in movies or on some race tracks, certainly not on normal roads where law abiding civilians are also driving. Other than the risk of causing grievous injuries to yourself you will also be  killing innocent people who happened to follow all traffic rules. So please don't go on road rampage just because you feel that speed is an answer to cure that lonely feeling that has created void within you

This is Bhaveen Sheth signing off for the day, will be back with some more.
